I've pulled my engine again (third time) to try to stop it from leaking oil.
Is this futile? I've seen plenty of chevy's that are driven and don't seem to leak.
I've tried copper spray and gasket forming tubes of stuff.

I have rubber gaskets for the Valve & lifter covers and cork for the pan.

Any ideas? I've correctly torqued things with foot and inch wrenches. HELP.

Cork gaskets are the absolute worst ever made, and as a result lead to overtightening and causing warpage to the sheetmetal covers. Once they are warped, they wont seal. Check to see if you can straighten them back out on their sealing surfaces and use a stiff fiberous gasket material and you should be fine.

She leaks from the valve cover, the lifter covers and the oil pan. I've had the block serviced about 5 or 6 thousand miles ago . The deck and pan were flat. I don't drive hard.

For now,,, double up on the valve cover gaskets.

Glue two rubber gaskets together then install on engine.

Hylowmar is good gasket sealer.

Are you using synthetic oil?

Hylowmar is a type of sealer.
We use it on A/C. It is great & fuel or oil does not really effect it.
I would use it on my 2 sroke engine when I was road racing. I used M.E.K to clean it off.

Silicone is affected by oil & water.

If you want a really good sealer try some CS3204 B 1/2
We use this constanly on A/C. There are other variations, plenty actually.

It is about $20 for a tube of it.

As far as torque to the valve cover? Cannot recall the spec but somewhere around 50 inch LBS not sure though, guys?
